We all have dreams, wishes, some fantasies we want to fulfil during childhood. But how many of us actually get to live those fantasies?
I don't know about the rest of the population but there are two pupils I know who fulfilled their wishes and fantasies in their late childhood years only. Two children who never saw the turn of events in their simple, boring life coming. The two hearts that never shared their truest ambition to anybody, had them granted by the Almighty they had immense faith in.
I am glad to be narrating their journey to all those out there in the universe who aren't afraid to dream. Who never stop believing in all things magical despite the disapproval of the practical, reality-oriented society. Because sometimes dreams do come true fueled by the dreamer's strong will and belief, by the faith in their imagination and hope for a miracle.
Here's how their adventurous journey began...........
The day was as hot as the hottest summer day, even though it was the early month of monsoon. The fun time of the summer holidays came to an end last week after school started.
For a ten year old 6th grader like Ishi, the day was as ordinary as any other day in her life to date. She got up at 8.30 am and got ready for school within 1 hour. Then she rushed to her friend Mamta's house as they usually went to school early before the morning prayers. 10 minutes of walking and the recently opened gates of Pandit Raghunath School welcomed them for another day of learning.
Ishi was good at studies like the majority of the girls in their class in comparison to boys which always resulted in a feudal relationship between the two categories of students. One such feud arose from the nickname Ishi had given to a carefree, naughty boy in the class named Shakti.
"Bandar (monkey)" Ishi again called him with this nickname that irritated Shakti to the extent of retaliation.
"Chorni (thief)" Shakti teased Ishi with the nickname he had given her not long after she started calling him monkey face.
"Ishi, come on. You can continue your banter tomorrow. We're going to be late. I am too hungry. Let's go home." Mamta insisted, dragging Ishi away from the fight she was unwilling to leave without winning.
"Go, run away chorni. You can't defeat me. Listen to your friend and back away." Shakti teased her.
"Shut up Shakti." Mamta silenced him. "Ishi come with me. You can deal with him tomorrow. For now, let it be." Mamta pleaded with her friend.
"Fine. But tomorrow, no one can save you from my wrath, understood monkey face." Ishi walked away from Shakti with a final warning glare, trying her best to ignore the teasing noises coming from the boy she left behind.
Mamta didn't ask what triggered their fight this time as she knew very well how useless that question would be. To start a fight between Shakti and Ishi, the only requirement was for them to be in the same room.
As Ishi bid goodbye to Mamta for the day after Mamta reached her house, Ishi marched towards her home which was not very far from there. A couple of minutes later, Ishi's eyes landed on an aqua-blue pentagonal stone.
Unable to resist her urge to add this unique, beautiful stone to her collection of stones she was drawn towards the shiny object. Never in her life had she seen such a simple yet beautiful stone.
Wow, it's so beautiful. Like a magic stone. She thought
As she extended her right hand to touch the stone, her excitement had no bounds. She was worried as to whom the stone originally belonged to but was also happy to be finding and getting it herself rather than someone else.
As soon as her skin made contact with the cool surface of the shiny object, she felt a strong pull towards it. In a matter of seconds, she was sucked inside the stone, sliding aimlessly inside a circular whirl of wind surrounding her which resembled a grey whirlpool. She was being pulled into an unknown abyss.
As soon as she could register what just happened, her endless falling finally came to an end as she landed on a grassy surface, which was rather soft for the ground.
I should omit this itty bitty intel for it is rather embarrassing for my soon to be superheroine, but I am bound by my obligations as a good narrator. Ishi had a rough landing including a face to face clash with the dewey grassy ground beneath. Propping up on her hands, she stood up with a chunk of the dirt coating the outside of her mouth, darkening her semi dark semi pink lips.
Internal sources reported that a good chunk of dirt passed through her border of teeth, providing her with a taste of the ground she was thrown upon.
"You're here, you're here, finally you are here." Came a rhythmic chanting from afar.
Ishi scanned her surroundings first as an instinctual tendency. Apparently, she was nowhere close to her home. The vast green meadow around her attested to it followed by the fountain behind her.
Water from the fountain fell from the staph of a white crystal statue of a lady who looked like a queen. The crown on her head proved it further. It was one of the largest ones she had ever encountered.
"Welcome to Toy Land. I wish you a day full of fun and joy. Come with me. They're waiting for you.". Ishi's mesmerized eyes landed on the originator of the commanding yet sweet voice which belonged to a light pink, one foot tall soft toy.
Yeah, you read correctly. A walking, talking pink soft toy. It's light pink body colour mixed with the bright sunshine gave out the appearance of a pink pearl on the green meadow.
Its black, oval eyes and rabbit like ears did justice to it's chubby, foot tall frame. It was doubtful though how it held a vase of pink roses in its fingerless hands.
"You have to walk with me on your own two feet. I am too small to carry you." It's childlike voice made an impact on Ishi's heart which was full of affection for children in general.
"I see little one. Although you are the cutest thing I have ever seen, next to my neighbour's daughter Tuku, I am not an idiot to follow a strange talking soft toy in an unknown place." A sly smile plastered on Ishi's lips.
"For me, you are strange too. But I followed you here, all alone, to take you to my Princess. I trusted you to not harm me and I expect the same from our guests." The toy countered.
Guest!
"If you want me to trust you, why don't you fill me in on where am I and what exactly do you plan on doing with me?" I Ishi let out the questions bothering her.
"For that, you must come with me first. I am taking you to meet our Princess. She'll explain everything to you as to what you should do next?." The toy replied.
"Why should I believe you? I don't even know your name, little one?" Ishi probed.
"My name is Nautch. I am 'the youngest by appearance and oldest by existence' toy of Toy Land." The toy proudly pronounced.
"Toy Land?" Ishi shot a questioning look at Nautch.
"The ground you are standing upon belongs to the outskirts of Toy Land, the kingdom of Toys," Nautch replied.
Astonishment marred Ishi's facial expressions. So many questions buzzed in her mind that she couldn't decide which one to ask first.
"This place is a floating island where Toys live like you humans do on Earth" Nautch said "You are human, right?" She asked.
"Y-yes. Yes, I am." Ishi fumbled at the meaning of Nautch's declaration.
This place she was in wasn't anywhere on Earth.
"I knew it. You're the one. Come on." Nautch excitedly took ahold of Ishi's hand, leaving the vase on the ground, and took off eastward.
"Where is this Princess of yours?" Ishi asked as she digested the surprise-cum-shocking revelation.
"Where Princesses should be. At her palace." Nautch answered.
After a few minutes of walking, Ishi spotted a huge palace surrounded by many other toys. Barbies, soft toys, toy soldiers, professional toys, toy objects like tea-set, house set, vehicles (who were rather subjectively mobile and outspoken), all kinds of Toys were there, eagerly waiting for her.
At the entrance of the palace, stood a girl who looked like any normal human except for the Disney princess attire. She wasn't one of the Disney princesses though. Those stood with the barbies.
"Is that girl on the palace entrance your Princess?" Ishi asked out of curiosity.
"Yes. That's our Princess." Nautch confirmed.
Ishi was happy to know she guessed correctly.
On the contrary, her nerves went haywire at the sight of the population gathered to get a glimpse of the newly teleported human in a land full of living toys.
"Welcome to Toy Land, dear human." The Princess chimed.
She looked not much older than Ishi. Her red hair appeared as a burning flame on top of her polished fair body. Her red eyes and pointy ears attested to the fact that she wasn't human after all.
An elf maybe. She appears much taller, maybe 5 feet, for an elf. Not that I know much about elves or any other Supernatural creature. My only source of knowledge of them comes from the cartoon shows I watch 12 hours a day.
"I am Princess Serena" the Princess began disrupting Ishi's trail of thoughts "Princess of Toy Land. To answer the questions you've been having since you got here, this is not Earth, which I believe you came from."
Ishi nodded silently.
A smile spread upon Princess Serena's lips on Ishi's assortment. She continued, "Toy Land is an island floating miles above the main ground on another dimension named Trinity. This dimension overlaps with Earth in the northern part of the state named Tripura. As the name suggests, Toy Land was created to give a home to the many toys that gain life force through children's imaginations. You-"
Ishi interrupted, "Wait. You mean it's where toys live like humans do on Earth powered by children's imaginations and games?"
"Yes, you got me correct." Princess Serena replied.
"Wow, it's just like that movie 'Toy Warrior'. Wait. Is it possible that I can transform into any toy of my choice?" Ishi questioned with an excited note in her voice.
"Yes, you can transform into any 1 toy of your choice on Toy Land, though your genetic and personality characteristics would not change. But once you go back to Earth, your attire will vanish making you look like you do right now. But if you do-" Before Princess could finish her "pros and cons" speech she was interrupted by a bright illumination coming from Ishi.
In her state of excitement, for the first time, Ishi did something without proper investigation.
In the blink of an eye, she was clothed in complete black attire, with a black cat mask. A magical lucky charm pendant hung from her neck while another blazed on top of the golden yellow bracelet on her left hand.
A wave of gasps and cheers awoken from the crowd of toys watching Ishi's Lucky Girl form in awe.
"I knew you were the one. You are the Girl Warrior." Nautch clapped her hands in utter joy, jumping up and down non-stop.
"It is decided then. You are the Girl Warrior." Princess Serena rasped.
"Sorry to interrupt your moment of celebration but I didn't follow you. You said I can take the form of any one of my chosen toys. I chose to be Lucky Girl. What is this Girl Warrior business, huh?" Ishi questioned.
"Of course, I'll explain. Toy Land was created by my Mother to give a home to all the toys. All was good until monsters attacked. My mother defeated them and saved Toy Land with help from an ancient source of magic. But she knew the monsters will come back. When I was younger, she started getting sick. Before she died, she predicted the arrival of two chosen heroes on Toy Land from Earth. One boy, one girl. Those two are fated to take the form of the most powerful toys of Toy Land. As Lucky Girl, you have taken the form of the most powerful toy of Toy Land to date. Hence, no doubt you are the Girl Warrior." Serena explained.
"How can you be so sure?" Ishi questioned.
Ishi wasn't used to being looked upon as a hero, as someone very important. She was used to being the ordinary scholar girl whom no one cares about except her parents.
"You were teleported here through the Toystone, that shiny blue pentagon you touched. That's proof enough. Mother predicted the Toystone would disappear itself to escort the two designated heroes to Toy Land. Toystone disappeared on its own and reappeared when you arrived on the meadow." Serena stated. She firmly believed in her conclusion about Ishi and others believed in their Princess's judgement.
"Well, in that case, I don't find any reason to deny being my favourite toy."
An optimistic smile appeared on Ishi's face, lighting up every fibre in her body like the now shining Lucky charm hanging down her neck.
Finally, her boring life took an adventurous turn. But was it for the better or the worse, we shall find out soon.
